Changes coming to energySMART

As a result of the Exelon energy bill, there have been several changes that have impacted the energySMART program. So far, the primary changes include:

  • Our current program year will now end December 31, 2017, extended seven months from May 31, 2017, with the next plan year starting January 1, 2018, but some energySMART offerings and incentive levels will change on June 1, 2017.
  • Starting June 1, 2017, the program will serve additional markets that were previously served by the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), including income-qualified households and public sector markets (e.g. community colleges, park districts, government municipality buildings). We anticipate that the DCEO programs, incentive levels and application processes will have minimal changes.
    • Rebates, boiler tune ups and custom incentives will be serviced by the energySMART team. Applications will be available on our website starting June 1, 2017.
    • Additional information about other offers will come as June 1 approaches.

energySMART is committed to providing the same quality service and energy saving offerings our customers have come to expect from our program.

Please be sure to check our website after June 1, 2017 for more information and updates on these changes. We are also planning an informational summit for our public sector customers during the Fall of 2018, where customers will be able to learn about the different offerings the gas and electric utilities provide.
