Nicor Gas is committed to energy efficiency and the ongoing introduction of new, cost-effective, energy saving technologies. The Emerging Technology Program is an initiative developed to accelerate the arrival of the latest, energy efficiency technologies and practices to the market. Key activities include determining whether new products, devices, or practices are reliable, serviceable, and provide cost-effective energy savings compared to existing alternatives. The goal of these activities is to identify and deliver new technologies for homes and businesses to companion customer energy efficiency programs.
The Emerging Technology Program will target new or unrealized efficiency opportunities through two ‘tracks’.
- External Track: The external track process begins by scanning a variety of sources to identify potential emerging technologies and practices best positioned to meet the energy efficiency needs of Nicor Gas customers. Once identified, the program team will utilize a custom screening and scoring system to select technologies and practices for assessment, evaluation and/or demonstration.
- Internal Track: The internal track will harness the collective experience and insights of the larger Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program to develop, assess and transfer enhancements to those existing programs. Key activities may include testing improved program designs, new market delivery strategies and/or new technology applications.
